Mitsui & Co. Seafoods Ltd. is a food trading company affiliated with the Mitsui & Co. group, handling fresh foods and marine products. Since the establishment of Toho Bussan Kaisha Ltd. in 1958, which was the forerunner organization of our company, we have built trust by providing value to our customers and partners, leveraging the comprehensive strengths of the Mitsui & Co. group and its global procurement capabilities. In July 2022, the fresh food and marine products business were separated from the agricultural products business and spun off to establish Mitsui & Co. Seafoods Ltd. We made a fresh start with the aim of further strengthening the collaboration with Mitsui & Co. in each product domain, enhancing our mobility and expertise, and beefing up our global product procurement and sales capabilities.
One of our important missions is to stably provide customers with safe, trustworthy, and sustainable food products and materials in our efforts to contribute to people’s fulfilling lives, and strive to meet the true needs of our customers and create value as a group of professionals well-versed in specialized products. In securing, procuring, and distributing products, we focus on social, environmental, sustainable aspects of our activities, as well as food safety. For example, we have established a Product Development and Quality Management Center, and created a system of strict checks by the center’s specialized staff members. As a code of conduct underpinning our mission statement, we adopt the “With Integrity” Mitsui & Co. Group Conduct Guidelines and embrace the spirit of “Challenge & Innovation.” Further, all employees share our commitment to improving organizational capabilities through transformation and growth, free and open communication, and taking proactive and empowering actions.
We have formulated a vision of what we want the Company to become as we approach 2023. We have named our product lineup the “Toho Bussan Bento” (“bento” is box lunch in Japanese), consisting of the various foods that we handle, and communicate that to Japan and the world using our network and collective strength. Please expect the best from our ambitious Toho Bussan employees.
As the seafood market expands globally and the importance of marine proteins increases, we will continue our tireless efforts and take on challenges in order to contribute to the enrichment of people’s lives and the wellbeing of our business partners and employees.
